The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans honors the contributions of immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States. Each year, we invest in the graduate education of 30 New Americans who are poised to make significant contributions to US society, culture, or their academic field. Each Fellow receives up to $90,000 in funding over two years and joins a lifelong community of PD Soros Fellows.
The Fellowship is merit-based and highly competitive. Selection criteria emphasize creativity, originality, initiative, and sustained accomplishment, and we value a commitment to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The program has no quotas of any kind and does not consider race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic in selection decisions.
This past year, we received more than 3,000 applications. 77 finalists were selected for interviews, and 30 Fellows were chosen from that group.
Full eligibility requirements are available at pdsoros.org. If you are interested in connecting with your university’s fellowship office and aren’t sure who to contact you can find a list of advisors here.
Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to reapply in subsequent years if still eligible.
The 2027 application deadline is October 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM ET. No exceptions.
